 NZKC Eukanuba World Challenge

The Eukanuba World Challenge represents the pinnacle of the show calendar. 46 countries are pitched against each other in, what is arguably, the event of the year. Winners of the most prestigious dog shows from around the globe as well was representatives from each participating country are invited to compete in this truly unique event that brings the world's most coveted champions together in one venue.

The 3rd annual Eukanuba World Challenge sets the stage for 46 international champions to face off in Long Beach, California, on December 12-13, 2009.

The highly regarded all breed judges for the Eukanuba World Challenge 2009 are Mr Sergio Lopes Meira DeCastro, President Confederacao Brasileria de Cinofilia, from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; Mr Greg Eva, President of the Kennel Union of South Africa, from Cape Town, SA; Mrs Carla Molinari, President Clube Portugues de Canicultura, Alcabideche, Portugal and Mr Roberto Velez-Pico, Executive Secretary Federation Canofia de Puerto Rico, San Juan, PR.
The 12 finalists, the three best dogs selected from each section, will be judged by Mr Frank T Sabella from Wellington, Florida, USA, who will then select the 2009 Eukanuba World Challenge Champion, awarding the title along with the $10,000 prize. The runner-up and the first runner-up will receive prize money of $3,000 and $2,000 respectively, all courtesy of Eukanuba.

For selection of the New Zealand dog, all Best in Show Winners up to 1 September 2009 will qualify for the Grand World Challenge Selection Event. This event will be held on the 30th September 2009 in Feilding, New Zealand in conjunction with the Eukanuba National Dog Show. Competitors will show against each other to find the ultimate winner and New Zealand's Eukanuba World Challenge Representative.
The prize is a trip for the winner and their dog to fly to California to compete in the Eukanuba World Challenge.
If the winner is a member of the Eukanuba Breeders Club a second person can go too. Conditions apply. (Entrants must have a current passport and be available to travel for these dates).
The World Challenge will be run like the Prestigious Blue Ribbon Awards. Jean MacErlane will be Show Manager for this years event. Jean can be contacted at worldchallenge@nzkc.org.nz
The World Challenge black tie event will be held at the Feilding Civic Centre, Feilding, 4pm, opening with drinks and nibbles. Competition starting around 5pm. Their will be a full buffet meal during the evening and the competition will end with a fun night of dancing until 1.00am.
If you have won a Best in Show at an All breeds Club show in 2009 you will receive in the mail shortly an invitation and contract conditions to enter this prestigious event.
